Scribble by Deborah Freedman

Emma's choice:

I like this book because there is a girl named Emma and someone who loves cats!

In the book, Emma loves to draw princesses but her sister likes to draw kitties. This difference causes a battle, but they use their drawings to find a way to get along and in the end they live "Happily Ever After. As drawings sometimes do."

I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child

Mom's choice:

So we LOVE Charlie and Lola books. I just think this brother and sister pair are adorable. They treat each other very well and are always imagining. This book is especially fun because Charlie really uses his imagination to convince Lola to eat her vegetables. He tells her things like, "These are not peas. Of course they are not. These are green drops from Greenland. They are made out of green and fall from the sky...Green drops are so incredibly rare." Who could resist green drops from Greenland? Not Lola! Charlie is such an inspiration! :)

Leaf Man, Eating the Alphabet and Planting a Rainbow

All of these books were written by Lois Ehlert who is a writer and illustrator. She's written/illustrated a lot of excellent books and so far, we like them all. They have great pictures and are about nature... just the things we love!

The Runaway Dinner by Allan Ahlberg

Emma's Choice:
This is a VERY funny book! I thought it was hilarious when Peter the pea "well and truly disappeared." You'll never guess where I found him hiding...
Do you see him? He's pretending he's a leaf with a bud. Silly guy!

10 Minutes till Bedtime by Peggy Rathmann

Emma's Choice:

I love this book because hamsters play during the 10 minutes till bedtime. And I think that the page with 1 minute is the silliest, because the hamsters are actually swimming in the bathtub!

The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling

Emma's Choice (of course!):

My Aunt Miriam thought I would like this book and she was right! This is the longest book I've ever read and with the help of my mom, we finished it in less than two days! I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.

Not a Stick and Not a Box by Antoinette Portis

Emma and Landon's Choice:

When is a box not a box or a stick not a stick? With a child's imagination, the options are endless! These books are so cute and our kids loved getting some new ideas from these little guys with giant imaginations.

Knuffle Bunny, Knuffle Bunny Too and Leonardo the Terrible Monster

Read about a monster who is not very good at scaring people. He really wants to scare the "tuna salad" out of someone, but will he?

These books are so cute. Mo Willems is such a great writer and illustrator. If you look really closely, you'll find the pigeon hiding in these books too!

Put Me in the Zoo by Dr. Seuss

Emma's Choice:

I like this book because his spots change color! Isn't it funny? I like it because with his tail he can swing from a tree and in the book he puts his spots in a box and when he takes them out they look like socks! This is one silly guy!

Edwina The Dinosaur Who Didn't Know She Was Extinct by Mo Willems

Emma's Choice:

This book is very funny because you can't be extinct if you're alive.

This book is well written and entertaining. You can read about Reginald Von Hoobie-Doobie and how he wants everyone to know that dinosaurs are extinct, even though he knows one himself.

Great Day for Up by Dr. Seuss

Emma's choice:

Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss? This is one of our family favorites!

Emma says - When I was younger I wanted to keep this book on a certain page. It was the one that says, "Up, heads! Up, whiskers! Tails!" because I thought it was funny with the bunny! It says up heads! Funny bunny!

Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown

Emma's Choice:

I love Flat Stanley because it is silly. The boy in the story is flat! I think everyone would think this story is silly.

Yummy: Eating through the Day by Lee Bennett Hopkins

Emma's Choice:
This book is full of poems about yummy food. My favorite one is called Potato Chip. I even have it memorized! It says,
When I slip one into my mouth
It's crisp tongue
Tells me salty secrets.

Coral Reef Hide-and-Seek

Emma's Choice:

This book has lots of place where you can hide-and-seek. And I really like learning about the ocean. I love the bright colors in the pictures too!

Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes

Lily's Choice:

I love this book because it has a great title and because this mouse is so cute....just like me!

The Pigeon Books by Mo Willems

Landon's Choice:

These books are SO funny! I especially love Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, because this pigeon REALLY wants to drive and I always want to say, "Yes! You can drive that bus!"

I'm looking forward to reading The Pigeon Wants a Puppy, The Pigeon Loves Things that Go, and The Pigeon has Feelings, Too!

Little Pea by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Emma's Choice:

If Little Pea doesn’t eat all of his sweets, he won't be able to have his vegetables for dessert! What will this little pea do? I have trouble swallowing my veggies from time to time, so I love the story in this book! I wish I was a pea, so I wouldn't have to eat my veggies or fruit.

Scaredy Squirrel Books by Melanie Watt

Emma's Choice:

These books are hilarious! We love this squirrel and the way that Melanie Watt shares his stories. During the first story we read about how this scaredy squirrel reacts when he is forced out of his nut tree by a "vicious intruder." He asks, "Will I survive this ordeal? Will I undergo life-changing experience? Will I discover my true inner self? READ MY NUTTY ADVENTURE TO FIND OUT..."

If you want a good laugh, these books are a great choice!
